Laurent Martin, PhD

Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology, College of Medicine – Tucson

Laurent Martin, PhD, is a neuroscientist whose research bridges chronic pain, neurodegeneration and nonpharmacological therapies. His work explores how pain is processed in the context of Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders, with a focus on developing innovative interventions that target both cognitive and sensory dysfunction. Martin leads preclinical and translational studies on photoneuromodulation using green light (GLED) and collaborates with clinicians to evaluate novel therapies for pain, anxiety and traumatic brain injury.

He is a co-founder of Verdi Therapeutics, a startup dedicated to advancing green light-based therapies for chronic pain relief.

Martin received his doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Lyon in France and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Arizona, where he now holds a faculty position in the College of Medicine – Tucson.
