Rebecca "Becky" Wachs is an associate professor in the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on engineering innovative treatments for chronic orthopedic pain and developing advanced models to better understand how pain works. Her work is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.

Before joining ASU, Wachs served as an assistant professor of biological systems engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She brings together expertise in mechanical, biomedical, and neural engineering to advance medical research in joint and muscle health.

Wachs earned her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She then completed her master’s degree and doctorate in biomedical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, followed by postdoctoral training in neural engineering at the University of Florida.
