Scott Leischow, PhD
Dr. Leischow is currently a Research Professor at Arizona State University (ASU) and has held senior roles in both academic and government organizations. In academia: ASU (Professor and Executive Director of Clinical and Translational Science); Mayo Clinic (Professor and Co-lead for Cancer Prevention and Control, and Arizona lead for health equity research); University of Arizona (Professor and Associate Director for Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Arizona Cancer Center). In government: National Cancer Institute (Chief, Tobacco Control Research Branch); US Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Director (Senior Advisor for Tobacco Policy).
Most of Dr. Leischow’s research and publications focus on pharmacologic and behavioral treatments for tobacco dependence, along with systems and network science to understand and optimize dissemination and implementation approaches to improve population health. Dr. Leischow has received several awards, including the National Institutes of Health Director’s Award, and he is past President of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).
