Wei Wang, PhD
Wei Wang, PhD, is interested in development of new effective therapeutics for disease treatment with emphasis on pain, aging and cancer. The new therapeutic modalities include small modulators (inhibitors and activators) and protein degraders and stabilizers. In addition, he is interested in identification of new targets for therapeutic development.
Dr. Wang received his doctorate in bioorganic chemistry from North Carolina State University in Raleigh in 2001 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in chemistry at the University of Arizona in 2001-2002. Before joining the U of A R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy faculty, he was a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. His research interests include organic synthesis, molecular probe design and drug discovery. He is an author of more than 340 original research papers, 17 books/book chapters and 10 patents with an h-index of 85.
